SD Generalate Hosts Gathering of Junior Sisters

SD Generalate Hosts Inspiring Gathering of Junior Sisters

It was indeed a great and grace-filled event at the SD Generalate, Thottumugham, which hosted around 90 vibrant and committed junior sisters of the SD Congregation from its six provinces and one region. The gathering also included a junior sister from Kenya, making the event truly international in spirit.

The programme comprised a six-day retreat, followed by the renewal of vows, a joyful community gathering, and a recreational outing. As the SD Congregation journeys toward its centenary, this meaningful gathering at the Generalate became a remarkable and cherished memory for all the participants.

The junior sisters were affectionately named “SD Warriors of Jesus,” symbolizing their courage, faith, and commitment. The coming together of sisters from different languages, cultures, and backgrounds added special beauty and richness to the event, reflecting the universality of the SD mission.

Rev. Mother Liss Garce, the Superior General, inspired and encouraged the juniors through her challenging and motivating address, calling them to deeper commitment and renewed zeal in their vocation. The gracious presence and guidance of the General Councillors were also a great source of inspiration and support for the young sisters.

As part of the programme, the juniors visited the tomb of Venerable Fr. Varghese Payyappilly and the SD Mother House, deepening their spiritual connection with the roots and charism of the Congregation.

In a forward-looking and creative session, the junior sisters also shared their dreams and visions for SD in 2050, expressing hope, enthusiasm, and commitment to carry the SD mission into the future with renewed vigor and faith.

This gathering truly strengthened the bonds of sisterhood and rekindled missionary zeal, making it a memorable milestone as the Congregation moves joyfully toward its centenary.
